State-Of-The-Art Radar System at Kabul Airport

Ambassador Eikenberry and Acting Minister Batash learn about the state-of-the-art features of Kabul International Airport’s new radar system

Flying just got a lot safer in Afghanistan!  Karl W. Eikenberry, U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan, and Mohammadullah Batash, Acting Minister of Transportation inaugurated a state-of-the-art radar system at Kabul International Airport today.   The new system will enable air traffic controllers to see aircraft within 120 miles of Kabul.  The official press release from the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan states: “In addition to improving safety for passengers traveling to and from Kabul, the radar facility will also increase the capacity of the airport, allowing 24-hour, 7-days-a-week aircraft operations in all but the most extreme weather. ”  Click here to read the official press release.
