Museum and cultural center to be built in Bamiyan

AВ museum and cultural center will be built in Afghanistan’s central province of Bamiyan, officials announced today in Kabul. The museum will be built on land that will be provided by the Afghan government, and the $5.4 million funding for the construction project will come from the South Korean government. A funding agreement was signed today in Kabul between South Korea’s ambassador to Afghanistan, a representatives from the United Nations, and Sayed Makdhoum Raheen, Afghanistan’s Minister of Information and Culture.

According to officials, the museum will provide a modern space for showcasing archaeological and ethnographic artefacts. The goal of the project is that the museum will have a role in educating Afghanistan’s new generation on their own history, and even attracting international tourists and visitors to Afghanistan.
