Young Afghan cricket team defeats team from Maldives

Afghan Under 16 Team

Yesterday, Afghanistan competed against Maldives in the Asian Cricket Council Under 16 Tournament (U-16 Challenge Cup 2010). The tournament is currently being held Penang, Malaysia.

Afghanistan (39 for 1 off 9.4 overs) easily defeated Maldives (38 all out off 13.4 overs) by 9 wickets.

Afghanistan coach Assadullah Khan was happy with the win and said his team did very well, especially in bowling, however, he still saw room for improvement.

Afghanistan’s Shamsurhman Karokhil was given the Man of the Match award. On Wednesday (July14th), Afghanistan will go up against Bhutan.

The Afghan squad for the U-16:В  Jawaid Ahmadzai, Abdul Sabur Akhonzada, Ajmal Kamawal, Sayed Hakim Karimi, Shamsurhman Karokhil, Jafar Khan Katwazai, Parwiz Khan, Shifullah Mohammad, Shaif Mohammad Murad, Naweenulhaq Tarakhil, Qadir Zazai, Qayum Zazai, Sadam Zazai, and Yusuf Zazai.
